Term 4 Newsletter – P2/3

I hope you have all enjoyed your break and are ready for a busy term in P2/3!

New sounds will continue to be taught on Mondays and this will be reflected in our spelling homework. In grammar we will be looking at common and proper nouns before moving on to past and present tenses. Reading will continue to be on Mondays and Wednesdays for P2 groups and Tuesday and Fridays for P3 groups. However, please ensure that children have their reading folders with them every day, as reading books will be used for comprehension tasks.

In Numeracy, we will be focusing on multiplication and division before consolidating concepts we have covered this year. For practical maths, we will be exploring weight, length and volume, before moving on to focusing on money. Mental maths strategies will continue to be developed and evaluated in our weekly Learn It tests on a Friday.

For the first part of this term we are focusing on Sound –  how it travels and how we detect it. From there, we will move on to look at body systems and the skeleton, investigating why these are important.

Other Information
*I would appreciate it if your child could bring to school a pencil & rubber and, if possible, coloured pencils and felt pens for completing tasks in school.

*PE will continue to be on Mondays this term with Mrs Begg. Children will require shorts and a t-shirt for this and, as the weather improves, outdoor trainers will be required for taking part in P.E outside. We also have a second P.E slot on a Tuesday.

*Homework will be issued on Mondays for returning on Fridays. Spelling tests will be completed on a Friday morning so please make sure you are practising your words at home to ensure success in these.

*Library visits will continue to be first thing on a Friday. Please ensure that your child brings their library book in every Friday, as a new book cannot be issued without first returning the previous one.

*As always, any donations of tissues for the class would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 16th & 17th for Parents Evenings.
