It has been a busy and exciting term in Primary 5.
This term Primary 5 have been learning all about Sikhism. Using researching skills the children have created their own information book on the computers so that they can share their learning with others. They have worked hard to learn about Sikh beliefs, Sikh gurus, places of worship, the Sikh holy Book and the 5 Ks.
Aberdeen Science Centre
Primary 5 visited The Aberdeen Science Centre this term to take part in the CSI:Aberdeen Workshop run at the Science Centre.
They learned how to solve crimes using science. The took part in experiments such as;
- Using a microscope to study and compare material samples.
- Adding red cabbage water and vinegar to different substances to measure it on the PH Scale.
- Using Chromatography to study the different inks used within a pen.
This term Greenbrae were very lucky to have the chance to welcome different sports into our school. Primary 5 had the chance to try out table tennis and also to attempt some of the skills needed to become a diver! We also had the chance to try out some Chinese dancing during China Week which the children really enjoyed.
Primary 5 have been enjoying learning about different styles of functional and imaginative writing. They have been building up their confidence in speaking in front of an audience when rehearsing for our class assembly next term. Everyone enjoyed dressing up as their favorite book characters for World Book Day too!
In Primary 5 this term we have been focusing on division, data handling, time and shape. We have also been working on our mental maths both at home and in school using SumDog, where we came second out of all the schools in Aberdeen! A lot of the children in Primary 5 have enjoyed coming along to Maths Club at Tuesday lunch times and we have noticed a great improvement in everyone!
Have a great holiday!
