Happy New Year!
Term has started well, with P6 settling quickly to work. We have a busy and exciting term ahead.
Homework/Class news – please see Google Classroom for homework information/weekly diary and updates throughout the term.
Literacy – In writing we will be working on non chronological report writing, persuasive writing and story writing. We will be continuing to use our reading books last term before moving on to a block of non fiction work. For homework P6 will be learning “To a Mountain Daisy,” by Robert Burns, which they will be reciting to their classmates. Some pupils will be reciting their poems in assembly.
Numeracy/Maths – We will be consolidating division and decimals this term. We will also learn more about fractions, area, volume and money. Times tables will continue to be revised and weekly “Learn Its” will track progress with this.
TOPICS – My Scotland/Around the World
We will learn more about the map of Scotland including the location of the main cities. One challenge is to be able to put Aberdeen correctly on a map! We will learn more about the local area and visit Scotstown Moor.
Groups will work on different countries around the world and produce displays for you to see at the next Parent Meetings.
We will also look at issues of refugees, food journeys and Fair trade.
ART – We are having a focus on art this term and will be looking at Scottish artists. The first artist we are studying is Derek Robertson. Look out for our art work on Twitter! We hope to have a display of our art for you to see next term.
TIMETABLE/EVENTS IN TERM 3
Welcome back to Miss Duthie who will be on placement with us again, from Monday 15th January – Friday 2nd February.
PE continues on a Monday with Mrs Begg and every second Thursday with Mrs Duncan.
Library is still every Thursday.
Spelling tests will be every Friday.
Science workshop – Thursday 8th March (all afternoon)
